Ohio-Indiana-Michigan
2008 Michigan Road Meet Trip
Dec. 18-22, 2008
Day 2 (Friday, 12/19), Page 2

The Indiana Toll Road has an animal detection system along a long stretch west of I-69.

One lane of the toll road was relatively clear, the other was snow-covered.

But the snowy conditions didn't stop this idiot truck driver from moving over into the left lane to pass traffic moving at a reasonable speed, given the presence of snow-covered spots in the right lane.

The IN 9 exit is just a few hundred feet south of the Michigan state line.

IN 9 becomes M-66.

Heading south on M-66 toward Indiana.

This exit marks the southern terminus of US 131.

Looks like this trucker learned a hard lesson from driving too fast in bad weather conditions.

Approaching South Bend.

Interesting treatment of US 31 signage on this signage.

The salt dome was getting a workout.

This trip departs the toll road at this exit.

Low gas prices, a roadtripper's dream. This was one of the lowest prices seen on the trip.

Indiana has petitioned AASHTO to truncate the US 35 designation to this intersection. Once that's approved, this will become the northern terminus of the route which recently saw its southern terminus moved from US 60 to I-64 in West Virginia.
