Oklahoma City Road Meet Trip
June 24-29, 2009
Day 4 (Oklahoma City Area & I-44 to Missouri)

These photos are from my trip to the 2009 Oklahoma City road meet held June 26-27, 2009. These photos are from the fourth day of the trip and cover the tour on the second day of the meet, plus my eastward trip to, through and past Tulsa to Springfield. Thumbnails for the 428 photos span four pages. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left corner of the page to navigate the thumbnail pages. Day 4 of the trip included exploration south of OKC proper. These photos begin with a set of I-40 shields on MacArthur Blvd., near my motel, that do not have the state name. This is unusual for Oklahoma.

Overheads on I-40 east approaching I-44.

Heading west on I-44. Looks like a shield has been removed from the Exit 118 sign.

This overhead has something missing.

Now on I-240.

Looks like someone has vanity issues.

Now on I-35 heading south.

On West Main Street heading toward downtown Norman and our lunch stop.

Back at I-35 on West Main Street.

A short jaunt south on I-35 to OK 9. This sign and the one in the next photo have greenouts, it appears.

OK 9 west.

The beginning of the Bailey Turnpike Extension.

Mile marker on the turnpike spur.

Most of the Oklahoma toll plazas make cash customers move to the right. Not this one.

The end of the four-lane on OK 4.

Now on the freeway portion of OK 152.

Back on I-44.

I-44 traffic gets squeezed to one lane here.

Some shields have been removed from this overhead.

A "bubble shield" for I-235.

Now headed north on US 77.

At this point I departed the tour (the others went straight ahead) and headed east, towards home.

Approaching the end of the Kilpatrick Turnpike and the beginning of the Turner Turnpike (I-44).
