2008 SE Louisiana Road Meet Trip
Aug.-Sept. 2008
Day 4

These photos are from my trip to the southeast Louisiana. road meet in Slidell, La., in August and September 2008. This trip combined the actual journey to Slidell with a multi-day county-collecting and sightseeing trip through Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri. These are photos from the fourth day of the trip, Aug. 31, and they cover Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri. The 438 photos are spread out over four pages of thumbnails. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left corner of the page to navigate the thumbnail pages. To view the full-sized photos, click on one of the thumbnails on this page. You will then be presented with navigation controls to view the images on individual Web pages as a slide show.

Day 4's photos begin at Clay Street (Old US 80) in Vicksburg.

Crossing the Mississippi River into Louisiana on I-20 west.

Logo sign for Grant's March.

Getting ready to get back on I-20 going east.

A wide split in the median of US 61 north of Vicksburg.

A new bridge over the Yazoo River is being built.

The two-lane section of US 61 is straight and flat.

Are we back in Northern Kentucky?

Another shot of US 61. Note the concrete pavement.

Most of the US 278 signage along the concurrent routes appears to be of much newer vintage than the US 61 signage.

Just to the right of this photo is the Sunflower County line. US 61 does not enter Sunflower County but a right turn and a drive of a couple hundred feet and you are in the county.

See?

Back to US 61.

This sign points to a town, not to a real live gator.

Is this interchange the new "Crossroads?"

There should be a US 61 sign here too.

More airplane markers on the highway.

Nope, this isn't New Circle Road in Lexington.

Tunica's casinos rise in the distance.
