2008 Richmond, Va. Road Meet Trip
July 2008
Days 1-2

These photos are from my trip to the Richmond, Va. road meet in July 2008. This trip combined the actual journey to Richmond with a multi-day county-collecting and sightseeing trip through Virginia and North Carolina. These are photos from the first two days of the trip. The 438 photos are spread out over five pages of thumbnails. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left corner of the page to navigate the thumbnail pages. To view the full-sized photos, click on one of the thumbnails on this page. You will then be presented with navigation controls to view the images on individual Web pages as a slide show.

The end of VA 158 at Alt. US 58.

New watershed sign of the type being installed in Virginia. And this looks a tad bit like Clearview font too.

The first photo of Wednesday's long journey is of advance signage of the US 11/US 58 split near Abingdon.

At the split.

Clearview on the mileage board after US 11 departs US 58.

The morning sun does funky things to the lighting for the advance for VA 80 at Meadowview.

This shows what it was like driving into the sun.

The next several photos are of US 11 northbound between Abingdon and Roanoke.

Cutouts in Marion.

From the appearance of the signage along US 11 in Wytheville, US 21 ends at this intersection. There is no mention of US 21 from this point north on US 11.

Someone used a three-digit blank for this US 11 sign.

State name signage for both I-81, which is common, and I-77, which isn't.

Older directional banner as you enter Pulaski.

The New River bridge at Radford on US 11.

Very odd looking US 11 shield.

More odd-looking signage.

The VA 177 sign is the odd-looking one in this bunch.

Three lanes of US 11 outside Christiansburg.

Unisignage for US 11 and VA 8.

More unisignage.

Very scenic portion of US 11, with US 460 added, in the Shawsville area.
