The photos from the first day of my trip to the 2009 State College road meet begin near Barboursville, WV, at the intersection of WV 193, US 60 and I-64. This is looking north on WV 193.

End signage for WV 193.

Looking east on US 60 approaching WV 193, which isn't signed on US 60.

WV 193 basically bypasses Merritts Creek Road, which was a heavily traveled local connector between WV 2 and US 60.

This is how WV 193 looks.

Overheads at Pt. Pleasant and the US 35 interchange.

The WV 2 bridge over the Kanawha River at that stream's mouth at the Ohio River.

This sign is on WV soil.

At this point, OH 833 is the old route of OH 7 and US 33.

Approaching the beginning of new construction on US 33.

US 33 goes from four lanes to two.

A look at the new US 33 between Pomeroy and Athens.

Just south of US 50, the route widens to four lanes again.

How, in Ohio, do they decide whether a township maintains a road, or a county?

OH 821 is the old routing of decommissioned US 21.
