Akron-Canton meet trip
May 6-9, 2010

These photos are from my trip to the Akron-Canton road meet in May 2010. Photos are from West Virginia and Ohio. Thumbnails for the 363 photos span three pages. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left corner of the page to navigate the thumbnail pages. To view the full-sized photos, click on one of the thumbnails on this page. You will then be able to view the images on individual Web pages.

Eastbound on US 60, approaching the beginning of WV 61 and the Kanawha River bridge. Unlike I-64, which crosses the Kanawha four times in the Charleston area, US 60 crosses the river only once.

Sun-bleached US 60 and WV 61 signage.

Getting ready to head north on the old route of US 21.

WV 622 joins old US 21 and runs concurrently to I-77.

Intersections with major routes are signed along CR 21.

Looming darkness pushed me onto I-77 for the rest of the Friday evening drive to Parkersburg.

No, they didn't leave a button copy "y" off this sign. There is a community called Kentuck in West Virginia.

Lots of button copy remains along I-77 north of Charleston.

Starting out Saturday morning, heading from Parkersburg to Canton. This older overhead signage graces WV 14 (old US 21) in Parkersburg just south of Vienna.

Button copy can be found along the intersecting routes for I-77 in this area.

Cleveland does not appear on mileage signs in West Virginia, but it begins showing up in Ohio.

First mention of Canton along I-77.

North of Cambridge, I-77 runs through a hilly, wooded area.

First mention of Akron.

This sign has lost a lot of its coloration.

Note that this sign lists CR 21, which is the old routing of US 21 in this area...

...while subsequent signs, and the southbound signs (which are in Clearview) list CR 53 instead of CR 21.

There's a large number of Clearview signs in this area. Clearview is fairly new to Ohio.

From Clearview back to button copy.
