Day 3 (Friday, June 18)

These photos are from my trip to the Southeast Pennsylvania road meet and my jaunt through the Mid-Atlantic region and into the Midwest in June 2010. Photos are from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Thumbnails for the 638 photos span six pages. Starting out the third day in the Lewes-Rehoboth Beach area of Delaware, on the very busy DE 1.

Heading toward the ferry on US 9.

Waiting in line for the ferry. Eventually the rightmost lane was opened, leading to a cluster-foxtrot as drivers scrambled to move to the right.

This sign is inside the ferry landing grounds.

This sign is the first US 9 sign after departing the ferry on the Delaware side.

Vehicles lined up to board the ferry, with the terminal building in the background.

The boarding gate.

Boarding the ferry.

On the ferry's upper deck. That's my vehicle on the right, behind the white one with the writing on the back window.

Note the newly-attached ferry sticker in the upper left corner of the back window.

Vehicles continue to board the ferry.

Seagulls abounded in the area.

Those NASCAR drivers will put their names on anything! The ferry's snack bar sold Dale Earnhardt Jr. cheeseburgers.

Off we go!

Lewes, Del. in the distance.

Meeting the ferry traveling from New Jersey to Delaware.

Approaching Cape May, N.J.

Lots of seagulls were trailing the ferry at this point.

Heading off the ferry onto the New Jersey shore.

The first US 9 sign in New Jersey was so faded the number is barely visible.

Lots of GSP trailblazers in the area.

This GSP marker is white, not yellow.

Interesting "End" mile marker for NJ 49.
